After way too many of these occurrences, I decided I needed to make a change. I started scrolling through the pictures my seniors were posting and realized their photos looked way different than what I was doing. What was the difference? The posing.
I started mimicking the things they were posting and noticed a HUGE shift in my bookings and started seeing more seniors actually posting their senior pictures. Okay, story time
The WHY behind the course...
POV: It's 2012 and your senior shows up wearing a chevron, business casual look with a bubble statement necklace (I know you know the one) and blue eyeshadow. She's ready to pose with her hands on her hips and wants to look perfect in every single photo smiling at the camera. You end the photoshoot, send over a few sneak peeks and she instantly starts posting the photos with a cheesy caption.
Fast forward to today, 2024. You show up to your senior session and your senior is wearing baggy jeans, sneakers, and a cute little crop top. She's all into the latest fashion trends and loves following influencers on social media. She tells you she wants more candid photos with lots of movement and you instantly panic because, A) how do you guide someone into a "candid" photo if it isn't actually a candid moment, and B) the only poses you can remember are the classic smiling at the camera portraits.

Today's seniors don't want what our past millennial clients wanted. They want something fun, fresh, AUTHENTIC, and unique. While yes, it's still important to create the classic portraits, it's just as important to capture the youthful, trendy poses they want too. I like to think of this as a mindset shift from creating portraits to creating content.
It's okay to adapt. In all honesty, it took me a long time to learn that. So, I'm here to help you do so too.
