Piper’s urban senior session in Downtown Richmond and Maymont was the perfect summer day! We had gorgeous weather and the perfect sunset for our parking deck photos with the Richmond skyline. Piper is on my 2025 Senior Rep Team and I just ADORE her!! She travels into town every time we have a shoot from Powhatan, and I just love love bringing the country girl into the city!

We started her session in the columns at Maymont and worked our way down to the Japanese garden. The Japanese Garden can sometimes be a hit or miss. You really have to time it just right with the sun. Since it’s down at the very bottom of the hill (y’all it’s a HIKE), and completely covered by trees, it gets really dark down there super fast. But, Piper really wanted photos with the waterfall, and luckily, timing was in our favor! We also could not believe that there was almost no one at the park! Almost always there are a million people there, so we really lucked out.

I love, love, love that Piper wanted to mix up the vibes for the second half of her shoot by heading into downtown Richmond for the rooftop view of the city! There’s this one specific parking garage I go to when someone wants something a little more urban, edgy, and sassy, and honestly I wish more people would choose here! I love the vibes and love how it just gets my creativity flowing.
