A firefighter and an EMT fall in love. Sounds like something out of a Hallmark movie, right? The breeze coming off the river, the brown leaves on the trees slowly floating to the ground, Rachel and Cody’s fall wedding on the Rappahannock River in King George was every bit magical and sweet as it sounds. Surrounded by their family and friends and even their sweet old pup, Lucy, was so filled with love and anticipation as these two cuties finally tied the knot, or should I say, branded the table? 😉
The day started with all of the ladies getting ready together at the at a beautiful private residence. Both Rachel and Cody’s mothers were getting ready together and chatting as I walked into the bridal suite which was so sweet to see. The details and florals were made by Poppin Peonies and effortlessly captured the fall wedding essence Rachel dreamed about. The dried florals mixed with fluffy pampas and white roses was a perfect rustic elegance. Rachel stepped into her Justin Alexander gown from Ava Laurenne Bridal and stepped out to the front porch to share a first look with her dad. A few sweet tears were shed and gifts were given. She then went away for a first touch with her man. The couple decided not to do a first look, but wanted to privately read letters they wrote to each other before officially saying I Do. You can imagine the tears and sniffling taking place from all of us during their readings!
The ceremony space overlooked the river and was made complete with a beautiful arbor dressed in chiffon and plenty of pampas. As Rachel came from around the corner of the house, I turned around to see Cody with his head down, tissue to his nose, trying to hold it together. The bride came walking down the aisle linked arms with her father to begin the rest of time with the love of her life. One special aspect of their ceremony was that they decided to brand a table they were building together with their initials and date. They asked guests to sign the bottom of it as a unique guest book and to always remember those who were there to celebrate with them.
After the ceremony, we captured their sweet newlywed portraits while the rain started to sprinkle down. It had been grey and cloudy all day, but we were all praying for the rain to hold off. Thankfully it did for the ceremony, but soon came down, all for good luck of course. We worked together with Fine Art Wedding Film to create some magic in front of the camera so they could remember such a wonderful day together forever. Rachel and Cody shared their first dance under the sprinkling rain to Prayed for You by Matt Stell. So sweet!! After dinner, Turnout Entertainment got the party started on the dance floor and kept it going until the night ended with a sparkler exit and off they went into happily ever after!
Congratulations Rachel and Cody!! It was an honor to be a part of your fall wedding day. I can’t wait to see where the Lord takes you two next.
