I’ve been seeing questions float around a lot in the senior photography world in Facebook groups and communities about how to structure a college senior session, how to price it, what you offer, etc etc. I always pop in and answer when I see it, because over the past few years I’ve adjusted and made a significant difference in how I serve my college seniors vs. high school seniors. Not only do I serve them better, but, I also and making a little more $$$ in the process 😉 So, I figured since this is a hot topic I’d just go ahead and make a whole video about it!
When I made the big switch in the difference in how I serve my college grads, I was a senior in college myself. I’d like to say I had a pretty good insight into what college grads were looking for in their sessions. College grads and high school seniors are, yes, looking for cute pictures to celebrate their graduation coming up, BUT, other than that they’re looking for totally different things in their outcomes.
College grads want: photos with their friend group/roommates/sorority sisters/team mates/etc, photos around campus at iconic locations, cap & gown photos and their graduation dress, a few photos of themselves to share with family and post about the end of their college adventure and share where they’re going next.
High School seniors want: cute candid photos to post on social media, photo submission for their yearbook, several outfits and locations during their shoot, lots of variety, and mostly photos of just themselves. Parents want classic portraits they can print and frame and share with friends and family.
Considering all these different things, I knew I needed to make a change to better serve my college grads. They weren’t always looking for what I was doing to serve my high school seniors. I made a pretty big change in my pricing and offers, and when I did this, the college side of my business took off!!
In this week’s YouTube video, I break down my college seniors vs. high school seniors pricing structure and even included a cheat sheet for you for your own sessions linked in the description!!!
