Okay, I know I’m not supposed to have favorites, but this one might just be a favorite! Lauryn’s downtown Richmond senior session is one for the books!!

Since moving to Richmond, I have just absolutely loved getting to find new locations for sessions, and this one just sparked all kinds of creative goodness in me and reminded me why I love this job so much! Our first stop was at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, aka the VMFA. I had seen a few other engagement sessions done here on Instagram, but was so excited to see for myself and bring along a senior to mix it up. I am in loooove with this location! You can get so many different feels all in one spot! (those are always my favorite types of locations!) It’s downtown Richmond without feeling toooo “downtown Richmond” if you know what I mean!

We started at this adorable little chapel with the most beautiful green arch doors. The doors combined with the lines of the porch rails, chef’s kiss, makes for some beautiful natural framing! We did a quick outfit change to go to out next spot on the campus and wow oh wow, I am so obsessed! There’s an absolutely beautiful building that gives me such European vibes and offers a great moment for a higher end, more sophisticated vibe. Honestly so in love with this set!

After we finished up at the VMFA we headed deeper into downtown Richmond to the top of a parking garage for a more urban, city girl feel. Whenever I tell people we’ll be going to the top of a parking garage, I always feel like they think I’m crazy! But y’all, if you haven’t tried it yet, you totally should. The white concrete deck and walls (I think it’s concrete lol I don’t really know hahah) acts as a perfect natural reflector to bounce light. Plus, you get some great views of the city without having to be high up on a hill where the sun is probably extra bright, and gives a more editorial feel to your portraits.

I absolutely loved working with Lauryn for her downtown Richmond senior session, and want to do it over and over again!! Such a sweet time getting to know her and cheer her on in her nursing adventure!
